What is Turnitin?

Answer

Turnitin is a tool for checking the originality of written content submitted as assignments within canvas in order to prevent plagiarism. Turnitin has to be enabled by your instructor in your course management system. Turnitin provides reports to identify non-original content which can help students identify and improve their writing. Turnitin also provides feedback on the grammatical and mechanical aspects of writing, including spelling. Questions about Turnitin should be directed to the Academic Technology staff who provide support for the software.

Alternatively, students can use Grammarly, a similar tool on their own.
