What is a peer-reviewed article and how do I find one?
Answer
A peer-reviewed article has been critically evaluated and approved for publication in a scholarly journal by experts with knowledge in a specific subject area or discipline. However, not all information in a scholarly journal, such as editorials, letters to the editor, and book reviews, go through the peer review process. And not all scholarly journals have a peer review process for the articles that appear in their publication. So you can find peer-reviewed articles in a scholarly journal but not all articles in a scholarly journal are peer-reviewed.
You can find peer-reviewed articles by using LibSearch (the search box on the library homepage) or searching library databases. Use our popular databases or a database in your specific subject area. When searching a library database, you can limit your results to peer reviewed (depending on the database, the filter may also be called scholarly or referred).
