Can an alum or community member use the library?

Answer

Yes. Alums and neighbors are allowed to use the library space and can register for library cards, which allow access to St. Kate's physical materials only. More borrowing information can be found at our Guests & Alumni page.

The Library does have guest wifi, which guests can access through their own personal devices. However, there are no guest computers in the Library, and printing is not available.

Alums and guests cannot access our electronic resources off campus and only through catalog kiosk computers in the library. We recommend that guests/alums use their local public library's interlibrary loan service to request articles from our databases, to request items from our Minnesota partner libraries or for research assistance.

Minnesota residents have access to some of the same St. Kate's databases through ELM (Electronic Library of Minnesota). PubMed is available to everyone.
